After I read the introduction part of “REWRITING” I feel like, WOW academic writing, such a lot of erudition in it. Last quarter, I was in a physics class, that was my FESM and we wrote a lot of academic writing about the research of Light or academic writing about some texts from famous scientists (mostly some responds to their hypothesis.And I just follow the outline, Introduction Method Result Discussion Conclusion.And I hardly thought about the deep-seated things of the texts from other people. And in this book, the writer’s purpose is not only teach us writing skills but also the way to analysis other writers’ thinking.Including the back ground of the writers, the mentation of the writers when they were writing the texts.That can help a lot. And in my point of view, an article with no depth understanding, with no genuine insights, just wrote step by step. This article is no better than a blank paper. So that’s what the book “REWRITING” is suppose to tell us, chapter 1, about generous understanding about the topic back ground and the aim of the article, chapter 2, get close to writer’s ideas and that’s more important than summary the whole passage.Chapter 3,point out what you disagree, suggesting ways of reading against the grain of a text.Chapter 4, mostly about particular insight or concept from another writer.Chapter 5 ,analysis and organize the whole things you want to write and put them together coherently.
Since I haven’t started reading this book yet, from the introduction part, I feel like this book would help a lot on my academic writings. Gotta get into it!
